Ask what the product contains
Cork appears in floor and wall solutions with different constructions and finishes. A decorative veneer, a composite board and an underlay for another floor are not interchangeable. Ask for a cross-section of the product and its exact reference as well as the visible sample.
Wicanders' portal separates installation instructions, technical data sheets, maintenance and repair. That separation is useful: a catalogue image does not answer every question a purchase involves. Avoid attributing insulation or resistance performance to any product when it belongs to another reference or a complete system.
Think about junctions
Draw doors, changes of flooring, skirting boards and fixed furniture. Ask about the required substrate and the joining or adhesion system. If the room is exposed to water, direct sunlight or frequent chair movements, present those conditions to the supplier before deciding. The brand's Canadian FAQ warns of possible changes in appearance through sun exposure; do not turn a new sample into a promise of unchanging colour.
Keep the care plan
Request the document for the finish actually supplied. Do not assume a wood cleaner or generic wax is suitable. Also record which repairs the product allows and whether replacement pieces are available.
The editorial choice is to compare the whole: surface, layers, installation and maintenance. This entry does not come from acoustic or in-use testing, and it does not certify a solution's compatibility with your home.
At a glance
Composition
A cork-containing product whose cross-section, layers, substrate and finish must be identified by reference.
Uses and selection
- Flooring or wall coverings according to the specific data sheet.
- Do not confuse a decorative finish with underlay beneath another floor.
Installation
Check substrate preparation, joining system, adhesives and junctions for the chosen product.
Limitations
- Performance cannot be transferred between constructions.
- Sun exposure may alter appearance.
- Suitability for moisture must be documented.
Cleaning
Apply only the plan corresponding to the supplied finish and reference.
Repair
Consult specific instructions and availability of pieces; do not prescribe sanding universally.
Technical documentation
- Product cross-section and technical data sheet.
- Installation and maintenance manual.
- Specific repair guide.
- Document-based comparison; no acoustic measurement or in-use testing.
