Building identity
Fallingwater stands in Mill Run, Pennsylvania. It was the Kaufmann family's weekend house, designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. The Western Pennsylvania Conservancy distinguishes the 1935 design, construction of the main house between 1936 and 1938, and the 1939 guest house. A single date therefore cannot explain every part of the ensemble.
A conservation history
The family used the property until 1963, when Edgar Kaufmann jr. entrusted it to the Western Pennsylvania Conservancy. It opened to the public in 1964. The institution records a major structural repair in 2002 to strengthen the cantilevers. This sequence separates construction, a change of stewardship and subsequent work.
How the entries connect
This entry identifies the physical property and preserves its documented milestones. The related House Angle project interprets the relationship between home and landscape. That reading does not replace the building's material history or constitute a condition survey. No original measurements are supplied, and conservation work is not presented as part of the original commission.
