Education and places

Luis Barragán was born in Guadalajara in 1902. His museum’s biography records his graduation as a civil engineer and architect in 1925 and his permanent move to Mexico City in 1936. It also describes the interest in gardens he developed during European travels. These are career backgrounds, not automatic explanations of every design decision.

The same archive connects his work with Jardines del Pedregal and named collaborations: Mathías Goeritz on the Torres de Satélite and Andrés Casillas on Cuadra San Cristóbal and Casa Egerstrom. Naming them avoids portraying all production as isolated activity. The preserved house and studio also document the proximity between residence and work.

Barragán received the Pritzker Prize in 1980 and died on 22 November 1988 in his Tacubaya home. House Angle links this archive profile to its reading of access and privacy. No commissions are offered in the architect’s name, and institutions preserving his legacy are not confused with his own professional services.
