Prepare the destination before packing
Walk through the new home with a simple plan and give each room an unambiguous name. Use those names on boxes and in the inventory. Before moving a piece of furniture, confirm its dimensions and the access routes in both buildings; a layout that works on a plan does not guarantee the piece will fit up a staircase.
Group the inventory by destination and distinguish what you are transporting, what you are giving to someone else and what needs a decision. Photograph the condition of objects you wish to document. Keep personal documents, keys and first-night essentials together in an identifiable, accessible set.
Coordinate contact points
Request a proposal clarifying packing, disassembly, transport and delivery. The FMCSA checklist consulted highlights comparing services, staying in contact during the move and checking the inventory upon receipt. These are organisational principles; its US transport framework does not define the obligations applicable to your move.
Record telephone numbers, confirmed dates and access restrictions communicated by the buildings. Connected equipment, heavy pieces or fragile items may require a specialist company; do not improvise their disconnection or handling.
Check before closing
When leaving, go through each room with the inventory in front of you. On arrival, check boxes and pieces before redistributing them. Record any difference with dates and photographs. House Angle's checklist helps coordinate tasks but does not replace the contracted service's documents or assess insurance coverage or claims.
