A building predating the renovation
Casa Batlló stands on Passeig de Gràcia, Barcelona. Its official history documents its purchase by Josep Batlló in 1903 and a comprehensive renovation by Antoni Gaudí between 1904 and 1906, after demolition was ruled out. That interval concerns the transformation, not the building’s origin; this entry omits an original date because institutional pages disagree.
Spaces within the property
The official description distinguishes entrance halls, the main floor, lightwell, rear courtyard, attic and rooftop. It places the office and living room overlooking the avenue on the main floor. The lightwell combines blue tiles of graded intensity, differently sized windows and adjustable wooden openings. These are elements described by the managing organization, not performance measurements.
Cultural visits have been offered since 2002, according to the institutional history. This stage belongs to the property’s later life. The related project examines light and renovation; the building entry places that intervention within a longer history, without crediting Gaudí with the original construction or confusing cultural tours with the initial domestic use.
