Shared authorship
The Charles & Ray Eames Foundation credits Charles and Ray Eames with the Pacific Palisades house and studio known as Case Study House number 8. This entry records both as a historical team. It avoids presenting Ray merely as an occupant or assigning the completed project to one person alone.
Revising and making
The institutional history distinguishes the first 1945 design with Eero Saarinen from the solution built in 1949. While waiting for materials, Charles and Ray observed and used the meadow, then revised the placement to preserve it and the eucalyptus trees. The foundation documents their participation in construction and dates their move into the residence to Christmas Eve 1949.
The studio accommodated experimentation and filmmaking, with objects and prototypes forming part of the working environment. This combination extends the reading beyond a recognizable facade. House Angle links the profile to the documented project without turning a collaboration archive into a practice available for new commissions. The foundation is a source for their legacy, not a commercial contact attributed to the couple.
