An ensemble in Poissy
Villa Savoye was built between 1929 and 1931 for Eugénie and Pierre Savoye by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret. The ensemble includes the villa and the gardener’s lodge beside the entrance. The architect’s foundation records the house’s handover in summer 1931; its title 1928–1931 includes design development.
Building and route
Pilotis, horizontal windows, a free plan and facade, and an accessible roof organize the house. A ramp and staircase connect its levels. Documentation from the Centre des monuments nationaux distinguishes service areas, bedrooms, living room and terraces without reducing the property to its exterior image.
Subsequent protection
The villa was listed as a historic monument in 1965. In 2016, villa and lodge became part of the heritage inscription of Le Corbusier’s work. These milestones belong to the property’s history rather than the Savoyes’ commission. The related editorial intervention focuses on circulation; this entry does not assess accessibility or the current state of conservation.
